Adventurous Tubing on Mountaintown Creek This float is for the more adventurous tubers looking for a longer ride on Mountaintown Creek. From the put-in to the take-out, this journey can take 5-6 hours or more and includes many points that require portage over or around trees blocking the stream. Despite these challenges, it is a very beautiful float and you will be in for a special treat. Directions: Drive to the intersection of Highway 52 and Mountaintwon Creek. On the northwest side of the Highway 52 bridge, you will find a large pull off that is frequently visited and used. Park your car here and walk down embankment next to bridge using cinder block steps. Warning: Please take note of landmarks as you approach River Bear Lodge so that you do not float past the property. There are very few take-outs in the resort, and floating past the property could leave you stranded.

On the northwest side of the Craigtown Road bridge, you will find a small pull-off at the intersection of Craigtown and Mountaintown Road. Note: This area is surrounded by private property, so be very careful to park on land not designated private. No trespassing signs are clearly marked. Warning: Please take note of landmarks as you approach River Bear Lodge so that you do not float past the property. There are very few take-outs in the resort, and floating past the property could leave you stranded.

Walk behind the guard rail on the highway down the embankment under the bridge to drop into the river. Note: the embankment is steep, so use the concrete steps to walk down under the bridge. This is a 1.2-mile float and should take approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the flow of the river. You can take out right on the River Bear Lodge (RBL) property. Be sure to take a mental note or a physical picture to ensure you know where to take out when approaching RBL. For a 1 to 1.5-hour float, you can add on the RBL to Clark Drive float, picking up at the Clark Drive take-out.
